The Satchel Diaper Bag by Dad Gear

The Satchel Diaper Bag by Dad Gear - Color Olive Green

I really like the simplicity of this diaper bag. It’s got an understated style that still manages to carry a lot of class. I think Dad Gear are right when they say it has unisex appeal.

A really nice touch is that it has a nice wide base and so it stands up on its own – useful when you’re coping with your kids.

Plenty of features that include:

Quick access wipes window
Large interior pocket
Large zippered interior pocket
Three pockets directly beneath the front flap
Stroller straps
Changing pad
Light colored interior
Comfortable 2″ strap

The styling is based on a bike messenger bag and it looks like it would be a comfortable diaper bag to carry around. Dad Gear say it’s durable and comes with a host of useful stuff on the inside:

Quick Access Wipes Case
Two large interior pockets
Two bottle pockets that can be accessed from inside or outside the bag
Changing pad
Stroller straps
2″ padded shoulder strap
Removable front flap
Made from durable materials that Dad Gear say will outlast the diaper days.

The diaper bag is available in a host of different prints with something to suit just about everyone.

The Good And The Bad of Diaper Backpacks

I thought it was about time I set up some individual pages that looked at individual types of diaper bags.

Diaper Backpacks are always popular because they’re easy to carry and put no strain on your back. They’re a wise choice in many ways. Perhaps the most important is a point I’ve already mentioned – they don’t put much strain on your back. That’s important because when you have a child you will invariably start to put more strain on your back when you lift up your child.

To make matters worse, it is very likely that you will not always have the optimum posture for gathering up your child – it simply isn’t possible. So, after a few months of this activity your back could well be causing you a lot of trouble. Particularly if you’re a mature mom.

For this reason alone it’s worth thinking about diaper backpacks. However, there are other benefits too – they keep your hands free!

Any mom will know just how difficult life gets when you’re having to carry all kinds of things around with you, whilst at the same time trying to manage your new born.

So, two clear benefits of using a backpack are the lack of strain on your back and leaving your hands free to manage your baby.

The only downside is that a backpack doesn’t look that awesome. Yes, there are very attractive bags out there but they never ever look elegant, and there will be times when a backpack is simply inappropriate.

It might be a good idea to have a backpack as the workhorse and have another bag for more important occasions.

In the meantime I’ve found a few for you to look at and maybe consider.

Let’s Talk Diaper Bags

Hi new moms (or moms to be).

My name’s Janice and I’ve developed this blog so we can discuss everything to do with diaper bags.

If you have the time then please leave some comments on the site. What I’m hoping for is to build a very thorough resource here so that we have lots of information about the various bags that we’re using and whether they lived up to our expectations.

Also, I’m simply going to fill the site with a veritable plethora of diaper bags – from the simple to the sublime.

If you let me know what you’ve been looking at (or longing for) I’ll try to get your selections onto the site.

Hope to hear from you soon

Is It Trendy?

One of the great things about diaper bags is that they are constantly evolving, but not just the practical aspects of the bag, but the styling too.  It seems that no sooner have I seen one that I fall in love with, there’s another that is equally beautiful.

As this post is entitled Trendy Diaper Bags, I’ve been thinking more about what that means.  Should it mean the most up-to-date releases or should it mean those bags which seem to lend themselves to the term Trendy?

In many ways I think it should belong to the latter.  Primarily because there are bags out there that are simply not trendy, no matter when they were released.  Therefore this page will assume in the coming weeks all the bags that I feel should enter into this category.  Of course, this is only my opinion and each and everyone of us will have our own idea of what ‘trendy’ really means.

Still, I think it’s worth a shot because I love looking at diaper bags anyway and it looking at some of the bags I’ve chosen to review may lead you toward choosing the bag of your choice.

What I’d like to do over these next few days is take a look at some of the latest releases and see if I would classify them in the category we’re discussing.  If you agree then maybe you could drop me a line and let me know, or even make some suggestions of your own.  I’d be more than happy to hear your thoughts about a diaper bag that you like or even your experience with a bag that you’re currently using.

OK, that’s me for now, I’m just off searching for some ‘Trendy’ products:D
